Our Story!

Do you ever wonder how to find quality friends? You know, the ones that are there for you through thick and thin, that love doing what you love doing, the ones you’re excited to see? Well, I got to wondering about that when I, being an empty nester, moved to a different part of the state to start over, beginning the second half of my life, so to speak. My old friends where too far away now, and I had no new friends in the area I had moved to.

How to find and attract these really good friends? I was clueless. I tried joining clubs, but things stayed superficial. I tried going to classes and events that interested me, but often I only had that one thing in common with the people I met-beyond that there was little to talk about. And the time it took to do all that joining and attending! If only there were a way to find people that had a lot of the same interests and personality traits, I complained to my daughter, Tara. And strangely, my daughter-35 years younger than myself and fresh out of college- had the very same complaint.

How many of us have felt lost after college? After leaving a pool of 30,000 plus people to be friends with, network with, and see on a daily basis, I got quite a shock when I found myself surround by five or six people at my first real full time job. Though I enjoyed the idea behind what I was doing, I truly felt I had a larger purpose, and I wasn’t exercising any of the talents I had. After much inner struggle to figure out what I was really suppose to do in my life, I keep returning to the same principle: I love helping people.

But how? Questions were building: How would I be able to help someone like myself feeling the emptiness from my lack of networks, both socially and professionally? And how many other people felt the way I did? With all the questions, and no clue how to begin answering them, I turned to my mom who had often times felt the same lack of support system in her life.

A light bulb went on! My mom, who was in her late 50’s, was going through the same emotions I was at 23. I knew my purpose. I wanted to help women like myself and women like her to be able to find, and be a part of, the very social and professional networks we felt completely lacking in our own lives.

With my experience of being an alumni of Phi Sigma Sigma at college, my mom’s shared vision, and an almost completely female dominated working environment, I started developing my concept to literally “network every woman” in the world! (Thus, the name of our site and our mission statement all in one!)

We wanted a place where:

  • Women could meet likeminded women regardless of location or proximity.
  • Women could grow and network their businesses reaching new heights in their success.
  • Women could relax, have fun and communicate with friends, family, and colleagues.
  • Groups, pictures, notes, and comments could be posted.
  • You could be Social, Professional, and most importantly, YOU!
